The local savings book all Winnipeggers need

I spent three years running a deals website, so I’m pretty dedicated to helping people save money. But because I try to shop from small businesses, I haven’t been able to extend a lot of what I know to my own purchases. Generation Green, however, is helping me change that.

You probably know them as the shop on Main Street that runs the Acorn Cafe. They stock local products from Juice Me, Studio Bloom Co. and Pure Anada, as well as our Heyru goodies. Generation Green specializes in all things natural and sustainable – and they’re making it easier to save money when you shop local.

They brought together a TON of the local brands they stock and created the Local Savings Book. Unlike most savings books you’ve probably seen and sold for school fundraisers before, this one is entirely digital. You buy the downloadable “book” online, and you can redeem almost all the included deals and steals online.

A full list of every local maker, creator and service included in the book is available on the Generation Green website, complete with Instagram handles, so you can learn more about each business and entrepreneur. Unless otherwise noted, you can use each coupon once on each small business’ website.

I just bought mine yesterday. While I can’t give away any specifics, I can say this coupon book is 21 PAGES LONG. Once you check out (either using a credit card or your PayPal account), you’ll receive an email confirming your order and a download link. The PDF you download is searchable, so you can head straight for your favourite local biz.

I scrolled through mine and saw percentages off orders, BOGO deals and coupons I’m absolutely using soon. But the best part? This entire book is only $5! Even if you only use one promo code or discount, this savings book essentially pays for itself. You’ll likely have to pay taxes on the purchase, but those are negligible.

The entire Local Savings Book is valid from Dec. 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, but individual coupons may have earlier expiration dates. That gives you just over two more months to shop and save! Just remember that each coupon can only be used once.

Every Manitoba business in the Local Savings Book

I’m most excited to use the Cloakroom and Wolseley Kombucha deals, but reading the full list of makers, stores and businesses can be overwhelming. I mean, how often do you scroll through 21 pages of discounts?

That’s why I decided to break down every Manitoba small business included in this savings book. Some shops and creatives might fit into multiple categories, but I only list each once. A coupon for Generation Green is included, but they’re in a category that’s all their own.
